Neon Bleeds

Weekly Writing Prompt: Nighthawk
1
Almost missed this week's deadline! My neighbor's dogs wouldn't stop barking every time I tried to record. They sound like what can be best described as two people in an argument with clarinets stuck in their throats.

This tune: There was a street in North Adams that had some pretty massive potholes that exposed the cobblestones from a distant past. They reappeared in a dream the other night and managed to creep into this week's lyrics before the rest of the dream was lost to the morning lucidity.

Thanks again for following along! Enjoy the dogs.

Neon Bleeds

Potholes expose
A layer of cobblestones
Cast in the shadow
Forged in the streetlights glow

Away from the scene
Where the neon bleeds
The steep and the narrow
Black nighthawk and sparrow

Lost in the wander
Crawled out from under
Alone as a hunter
With no quiver or bow

Back in a dream
A flicker it seems
Was lost and has left me alone

A couple dapper barking clarinets.
